An important element of a man’s personality is the way it is dressed. It is believed that based on clothing, we can understand too many elements of the personality and character of others.
First of all, we can guess someone’s practice from the way he usually looks but also the hierarchy in which he is placed in the context of his work. The priest, for example, constantly wears his robes, while a military or police officer passes a lot in his uniform, having on his shoulders and his distinctive degrees.
The doctor’s medical blouse betrays alongside the profession and the highest educational level of the wearer. The labor form of the man who does manual work does not, however, refer to a similar level of education.
A lot of people try to dress up in order to make their ideological or religious position visible.
In others, the clothing betrays their engaging in sports or other “intense” activities. The anti-reformism, for example, of the liberal young, is expressed through his long hair or his beard, through the jeans pants, his wide sweatshirt and a tørklæder around his neck. The athletic form, the beloved athlete’s and athletic clothing, testifies to both the capacity of their character and the activity they have in their free time.
In general, we can also say that the mood is obvious in the way a person dresses. The light-colored and cheerful clothes, testify that we have to do with a happy man, positively related to the situations of life. The dark and monotonous garments show dark mood and closed character. It’s usually about a pessimistic person.
It is also worth noting that how great is the degree of the impact of our personality on the way we dress, the greatness that affects our clothing, the creation and the integration of our personality, is also reflected great. How could the actor, the physiognomy and the peculiarities of his role be attributed, without wearing a suit?
There is, therefore, a two-way effect between clothing and personality. The first affects the second. Sometimes it defines it while it is true and vice versa.
But as long as the priest does not betray the priest uniform, that does not mean in any way that we must accept his “priesthood” uncritically. We must not, as a matter of course, regard clothing as the only criterion for the evaluation of human personality.
So, the best to evaluate someone is by taking into consideration other elements such as: the way he is expressed and the way he usually behaves. It is in our interest to try to know people deeper. To engage them, we should focus on their character and personality, before adopting an opinion. Let’s not just get the original impression from the way they want to dress up.
In our own world, it is good to keep in mind, we all want to wear the clothes that will create the personality we actually want to be, which we are very envious of and struggle to fit in. There is no need for a professional psychologist to understand how, for example, behind the shiny head, the strict style, and the inexpensive costume of a man, his desire of looking something that he is not but desires to be, is really obvious. We should accept everyone’s way of expression with no judgmental attitude and always remember that we, ourselves are part of the same game too. The most important thing though is not to focus on the outside and look deeper for the inside part. It is way more interesting and it is not changing no matter the shapes, the colors and the brands. It is always the inside that counts, in large amounts.
